I happened to stumble upon this amazing bathroom on Instagram the other day and I was really impressed by the recessed bathtub dressed in terracotta tile. It belongs to Casa Modesta, a family house turned eco-hotel in Portugal and designed by Par Architecture.
I love how it balances between a strict industrial style and an eclectic spa elegance. It has a peculiar layout where apparently to enter the bathroom you first have to pass through that recessed tub, which practically resembles a pool with its steps and all although considerably small. The terracotta tiles extend to the bedroom and that creates a continuity which more or less interprets as an open plan layout.
The glazed white subway tiles and brass fixtures add a sophisticated note to an otherwise very much stark environment. The diffused daylight entering through the skylight brings a wonderful glow to the room.
Do check out the rest of place as it is equally awesome!
