Pick a rug to buy for the home office of My Paradissi

Time to shop a rug for my new home office. Typically, I have a hard time choosing for myself, so this time I'm asking for your help. I've put together a quick photo collage of my current office with 5 different rug options I'm considering. I'm balancing between neutral shades and color in geometrical forms. See my picks right below and tell me which one you think works best. Thanks!

Marbella moroccan shag rug by nuLoom in the home office of My Paradissi

Above: This shag rug by nuLOOM is one of my favorites. Perfectly fluffy and subtle, with the black rhombus stripes to break the neutral creamy shade. I'm having second thoughts about how well my wheeled desk chair would move on it, though.

Gray diamond check rug by Urban Outfitters in the home office of My Paradissi

Above: Love the geometrical simplicity of this diamond check rug by Urban Outfitters but mostly I love its price! It comes in amazing black and white diamonds, as well, but found it a bit too harsh for my place.

Trimaran striped rug by Dash and Albert rugs in the home office of My Paradissi

Above: Stripes are all over the place these days but I couldn't leave them out from my wishlist. The vertical stripes of this rug will add a visual depth illusion to my small home office (the room depth is a little less than 3 m!). This durable rug by Dash & Albert Rugs is also a great fit for my office due to its warm gray hue.

Red paddle stripe cotton dhurrie by Serena and Lily in the home office of My Paradissi

Above: Not that I miss my former bold orange wall hue but this red carpet by Serena & Lily got my attention pronto. Maybe it is for the paddle shape of its stripes or that I could still use a vivid color to add a bit of warmth in the room, only on the floor this time!

Nadia hand hook rug by Modern Concept in the home office of My Paradissi

Above: Lastly but not least, I picked this multicolored rug by Modern Concept. Feels like a traditional kilim (which I love) but its geometrical shapes and colors are so fresh and contemporary. I'm thinking though that, if I choose this one, I'll have to be extra picky with my wall decoration if I want to keep a fairly simple color palette in the room.

Oh, so many choices and, guess, I already have a few more in mind that I haven't shown you here =/ What do you think guys?

  1. The Nadia Hand Hook Rug really adds warmth. It gives the office a more homely feel. But also like the style and simplicity of the Trimaran rug :-)

  5. The first one gets my vote. Super elegant and works with the simplicity of the rest of the room.

  6. I love the first one, but noticed is was a bit awkward for movement of the chair. In that case my second choice would be the last one.

  10. I really like the first and third rugs! I always lean towards simplicity and I think those two really work with your room - BUT I do love the colors and pattern of the last one!! Such a great way to choose a rug!!

Hope I helped :)

  14. Ninguna de ellas, la mesa es muy oscura y lineal, creo que necesitas algo para suavizarlo... Y al ver el cactus encima de la mesa me he dado cuenta de que una alfombra en color verde, o con color verde incluido en el estampado, iría muy bien.

  15. Hmmmm - I think you can get more interesting.... This rug is a flat weave so your chair will roll easily. The pattern picks up on the rectangle shapes of the desk and bookcase, gives you a striped effect and adds a good amount of color. Plus, with the pattern mishaps won't show as much: http://www.nwrugs.com/jaipur-bedouin-amman-red

  19. last but not least....I choose the multicolored rug by Modern Concept. normally I would choose something in grey like the durable rug by Dash & Albert Rugs but...I really think that the colors and the shapes in this mutlicolored rug are perfect for your new renovated office!

  24. If you wish to keep things clean and professional for clients who come to your home office, then I'd suggest # 1. If you will be there all by yourself, you'll need some color to cheer you up in colder months, so I vote # 4. Finally, as far as my taste and by knowing you a bit, I vote # 4.
    Happy shopping!

  25. I would go with the Nuloom Marbella Moroccan shag rug (#1). The contrasting crisscross pattern is bold enough to stand out and break up the space but it still blends with the rest of the furnishings.

I like the boldness of the Serena & Lily Red Paddle Striped Rug (#4) and i think it definitely adds a needed pop of color, but i think the stripes don't have anything to work with. Especially with the blank white wall behind it.

  26. I'd say the trimaran striped rug would be a good choice, granting the colours displayed in the home office. And yes, the vertical stripes could add dimension to the room. Anyway, let us know what you've picked.
