I'm seeing lots of wooden panels on walls and ceilings all around the internets lately. It is safe to say that, as the seventies trends are very popular again, so is this one. Although, I do not like the idea of addressing to a structural feature as a trend (it obviously ain't that easy to switch back when the hype calms down) yet it is a great opportunity to incorporate it into your home design should it be a style you'd always had an affection towards.
To be honest, being surrounded by large-scale wooden surfaces is not something that I'm either used to or long for as the warm climate of where I live calls for cooler materials (hello stone, marble and terrazzo). I do love seeing it in northern homes, however, and I truly dig the fresh and sort of minimalistic approach of the contemporary designers and stylists. And, I would love to spend some chilly wintery moments with a cozy blanket and a hot beverage in hand in one of those places (just not the 36oC steaming hot summers of Crete- that would literally feel like a sauna!)
So, what's your experience with wooden walls and/or ceilings? Do you use them where you live?
