Contemporary sophisticated home in Antwerp. Design: Nicolas Schuybroek Architects, photos: Julien Claessens / Thomas de Bruyne

I'm smitten, once again, by the incredible work of Nicolas Schuybroek Architects and the eclectic sophisticated design of this private residence in Antwerp, Belgium. First thing that got my attention is then wooden beam ceiling that seems to dominate the crisp and overall undertone white of the rest of the space. And then, it is this calm minimalistic approach and sparsity of decorations that, under a veil of soft finishes and unrefined textures, feels welcoming and easy going. Oh, and the chevron floor. Such a beauty indeed. Enjoy!

TREND SPOTTING: Terrazzo

TREND SPOTTING: Terrazzo

Have you noticed? Terrazzo is trending really big these days and not only on floors but walls, surfaces and furniture and accessories as well. Taking after the all marble ecstasy we've been through these past years (which thankfully is still here strong and steady) this equally eloquent, sturdy and natural surface has a more casual and eclectic vibe and definitely a more colorful and geometric result due to the way it is created. To tell you the truth, terrazzo floors have been a part of my life since birth as I have been living on them literally for most of my living days. I remember hating it with passion as a teenager, swearing like crazy when trying to find something that has accidentally fallen on it and then loving it again and again as a designer while trying to convince some of my clients not to cover/remove it while renovating their old apartments. Now, with all this incredible inspiration bombarding us from all around the web, I really can't stop but wanting to use this gorgeous finish right about everywhere. Do you feel the same? What's your opinion on terrazzo surfaces?

I'm loving this small built-in kitchen bench. There is an absolute brilliant balance between rustic, folk (the kilim cushions of course) and minimalism. And, that morning light sneaking in through the large balcony doors. Beauty! See a few more photos of this London townhouse here.

HOUSEOLOGY + DESIGNERS GUILD

Smooth collection by Designers Guild at Houseology

Trust me on that, but I really do know how daunting looking for the perfect sofa can be. You need to get quality, durability and a style that matches your home and aesthetics all at the same time. It is definitely great news when you get a cool new collaboration between one of your favorite online stores and a well known and trusted furnishings brand. Houseology is now having a handpicked selection of 8 sofa collections from the new range of upholstered furniture by Designers Guild. That means that you can choose your favorite style, decide on you preferred sofa size including armchairs, daybeds and footstools, pick from a huge variety of over 70 luxurious upholstery options and 11 different feet finishes and enjoy your own customized piece of beauty.

That being said, I couldn't but put together a few moodboards to show you the sofas I would pick for from the Designers Guild collection given 3 different interior styles.

Top moodboard is featuring the minimalistic curvy Smooth sofa in Cappucino fabric that would look perfectly well in a contemporary sophisticated interior that is dominated by muted tones in neutral browns, grays and beiges, soft finishes, geometric forms and metallic details in black and brass.

Quadro collection by Designers Guild at Houseology
A more stark scandinavian approach in this moodboard featuring the stark yet utterly cushy two seater sofa of the Quadro collection in Raven upholstery, with a distinctive black and white duality and a contrasting softness and coziness coming from the furry textiles and the ease of the seater.

Gibson collection by Designers Guild at Houseology

This moodboard is more of a summer breeze inspiration; a casual blue daybed from the Gibson collection in Delft fabric is paired with white furniture, woven accessories and touches of teal and light blue.

As you can tell options are endless for that matter but I really hope I got your attention over here :) Go on, do have a look at the incredible Designers Guild collection at Houseology and let me know in the comments below which one would you choose for your home!

Sculptural minimalism. Well, that's a phrase that triggers all my designer nerves simultaneously making me step outside the structure of time and just stay still and admire the beauty of the forms and lines meeting function. Or, at least, that's what happened while browsing through the Kristina Dam Studio. Get a tiny glimpse yourselves below or do visit the store for more and more inspiration.

3d visualizations by Scooty Man

This sleeping nook, oh my, this divine sleeping cave! Let me just hibernate there through the rest of the winter. Hard to imagine, yet these images are 3d visualizations by Scooty Man and are inspired by an actual house in Tinos designed by Zege Architects (quite similar indeed). Still, this is the material dreams are made of ^^

Tine K Home Apartment in Palma, Mallorca

While popping into Michelle's blog this morning for my daily dose of inspiration, I couldn't but gasp to the unrefined natural beauty of Tine K Home's products presented in their oh so successfully styled way. The new Tine K Home SS17 catalog is once again breathtaking, and if I might add, a great escape from all the holiday wintery thing that's been going on this past month. The photos in this post are not from the new collection, however, but from an apartment they have for rent in Palma, Mallorca. Now, please tell me, wouldn't you want to spend just a few days there soaking up some warm sun rays before turning back to the rest of the winter?

Happy New Year, friends! Wish you love, health, truth and joy and a bag full of accomplished wishes at your doorstep :)
2017 has found me (and my family) with a nasty cold so you can guess that was not exactly off to a great start. But, the sun is shining beautifully today and I do feel a little better so my optimism levels have risen again to their normal standards.
There are so many beautiful things to look forward to this year, amongst them a very promising and cool collaboration and, of course, the birth of my second baby in early April. Let's do this, people! Let's do a wonderful, wondrous 2017! xoxo
