I admit that, although I am aware that tiles are a cool countertop option for a kitchen, I have always been afraid of using them for me or my clients. The reason is quite simple; grout. How do you keep all this grout clean and pretty with everyday use? I really need your feedback if you happen to have an experience with a tiled countertop. On the other hand, I come across kitchen designs like the above and I'm that close to change my mind. The all white tile grout combo looks stunning despite a bit intimidating. And the whole island is covered in tiles yet doesn't look industrial or laboratorian at all. What do you think?

My experience is that white grout never stays at all nice, and is pretty disgusting after a year or so. Tiled countertops can be great, though, if you embrace the subway tile look and use black grout. Think of it as crisp and clean looking, rather than giving in to filth.
