2 ALIKE: Minimalistic bathtub

Minimalistic bathtub | Vogue Living
Minimalistic bathtub | Tara Pearce via Est Magazine

In a perfect world, where the dozens of half used shampoo bottles and ugly looking toiletries are only a fictions tale to tell the kids, these two bathtubs would be a more than a dream to conquer. The natural hues and materials, the simple forms and the absolute lack of unnecessary embellishments create a serene environment that resembles the quality and zen atmosphere of a spa.

My home, my paradise no.17

My home, my paradise no.17 | My Paradissi

I'm craving for some elegance in my life lately. Not anything posh, glam or loud, but a more sophisticated and unrefined one with focus on quality and class. All that in subtle, monochromatic hues, with use of metals, stone and soft textures, moldings and cornices and a diffused winter ambient light to add the proper mood to the scene. That being said, here are some characteristics that my ideal home would have at the moment..

7 tumblr accounts to follow if you want to procrastinate in style

Image via Hardwearing

Admittedly, tumblr is one of the best ways to procrastinate on a cold Monday morning. Did I just say that? No, I mean to find some serious inspiration for your upcoming design projects or, for the non designer friends over here, some rad inspiration on styling, fashion, recipes etc etc. So, since you really enjoyed my last Monday's roundup post (of scandinavian design blogs, remember?) I decided to share with you today yet another roundup, this time with crisp and clean, mostly white and natural tumblr blogs I love to love (and spend hours browsing). Hope you like them too! And, happy new week ;)

*Oh, and while there, don't forget to follow My Paradissi tumblr as well!

Hi, my name is Eleni and I'd like a fireplace in my bathroom, please. I wouldn't mind if it opens to my master bedroom as well. No problem at all. I'll just indulge myself in a hot bath watching the crackling fire and the rain falling outside the window. Oh, the pleasures of everyday life..

DECOR TREND: Minimalist fireplace

DECOR TREND: Minimalist fireplace | My Paradissi

Always love a creative contradiction. Warm and inviting fire and stark and sleek minimalist design, both married to a fireplace bliss. Don't get me wrong; I love ornate designs, textured materials and decorated mantels as much as the next person but, hey, look at these fireplaces. Aren't they totally stunning in their simplicity? Like stripping off the unnecessary stuff and keeping just the essentials; a burning fire, a glass of wine and good company. It is, however, the details that make a difference (it's always them), like the way logs are stored/stacked by/under the fireplace (baskets are always a favorite solution), the fireplace door, should there be one, the baseboard usually used for protection and the bench for extra seating or for that design wow factor (yes, I'm talking to you, marble one). I would highly consider having such a fireplace in my home. Actually, that would definitely be my pick. Check out, after the jump, 10 of my most favorite minimalist fireplace design ideas!

White bathroom curtains (not what you think)

White bathroom curtains | Est magazine
Est magazine
When we think of bathroom curtains we usually (well like 89% of the times) think of shower curtains, right? Well, how about switching our minds and think of ceiling high white window drapes instead? These bathrooms are pretty good triggers to help us do so. The luxurious texture of the fabric adds a welcoming note to the otherwise minimalistic and stark white design while it promotes a sophisticated elegance through a creative yet simple decorating move. What do you think? Fond of this design as well?

Eclectic scandinavian apartment

Eclectic scandinavian apartment | My Paradissi

After sharing this dark bedroom with the kitty cuddling on the bed the other day, I did a thorough research for its whereabouts and was smitten by the results. To no surprise, the apartment this bedroom belongs is equally stunning. Not dark or moody (quite the contrary to be precise) but welcoming, intricate and with an attitude totally fit for a scandinavian interior. There is an artsy vibe floating in the rooms, coming from the mix of vintage findings and the designer pieces and the incredible art hung on the walls. Follow me after the jump for this gorgeous home tour :)

DECOR TREND: Handle free kitchen cabinets

DESIGN TREND: Handle free kitchen cabinets | My Paradissi

In the name of simplicity and minimalism, there are lots of home accents that wave the design world bye bye. Not that knobs and pulls are about to vanish (not by any means- we wouldn't want that to happen anyway!) but we definitely get to see even more sleek knobless cabinetry in newly designed contemporary kitchens recently. The all white (and all black for that matter) of the scandinavian interiors, the sophisticated desaturated hues of mint greens, slate blues and greys, the bolder dark colors like pine green and navy blue, the impressive metallics and, of course, the wooden finishes, all look so smooth and elegant in their uninterrupted existence. I particularly love how such a design gives space to other elements to breathe (faucets and lighting fixtures, I'm talking to you) and let the countertop and splashback materials pop out. What do you think? Is this a trend that you'd follow in your kitchen design or you would never ever imagine yourself without your precious cabinet knobs?

Cozy window seating nooks

Cozy window seating nook | Elisabeth Heier
Elisabeth Heier
Oh, it definitely seems that a seat by the window makes everything look more cushy/cozy/optimistic. Is it the view, the sneaking sun or the hoards of pillows and throws that make the scene utterly inviting? Like, there is any of you who hasn't longed for a few hours well spend on a window nook, with a good book/tablet/magazine/nothing just staring out of the window? I know I'm so needing such a pause right now ;)
