Eclectic finnish home with black walls

Eclectic finnish home with black walls. Photo by Krista Keltanen

In our new apartment, I'm having all the walls painted white (didn't I tell you? We're moving next month! So excited ^^). I'm really tired of colored walls and I need a more simple and minimal approach to my new space. This amazing finnish home, however, has me craving of black walls too. Aren't they awesome? I love how grown up and sophisticated they make the space look and how awesomely well they match with the copper details and the blonde wood finishes. On the other hand, this home is flooded with daylight coming through the ample large windows which make it possible for a black interior to actually work and not look dull, claustrophobic or depressing. Check out what I'm talking about, after the jump. Enjoy!

Ah, towels. Crisp, delicate towels. One of the simplest yet cushiest luxuries of life. A pleasure that one can not understand the importance of until one has actually indulged into the soft hug of a natural fine quality towel.

Soothing minimalist bedrooms for a simple life | My Paradissi

If you ask me, all I really want in my bedroom is a top quality mattress and freshly washed crisp bed linen. This probably comes from my recent need to purge and live a simpler life, to minimise the needs and maximise the focus on quality. I'm not saying that all the bits and pieces are not pretty or satisfying enough (like, yeah, a gorgeously styled dresser or nightstand, a rad gallery wall or long rich drapery add a certain amount of coziness and attitude) its just that I currently have the urge to keep things as much basic as possible and be inside spaces that are stripped off of all the unnecessary things. That being said, here are 10 bedrooms that totally succeed in capturing my state; definitely wouldn't mind waking up in any of them. How about you? Do you find them simply calm or uninspiringly cold?

Eclectic kids room design with Houseology | My Paradissi ©Eleni Psyllaki

It's been a little less than 8 months that we have our little baby star sleeping in the same room with us. It won't be long until he'll have his own room as we are all patiently waiting to move to our new apartment next month (more on this on following posts ;). For that matter I have already started daydreaming about his new room; the furniture, the colors, the accessories. Time could not have been better to be contacted by Houseology for the launch of their new kids collection. Oh, my. Too many pretty items to pick from and literally too easy to put together a favorite space for my baby boy. I have been cheating a little, to tell you the truth, as the room you are about to see is a fictional one and has little to do with our extra petite space in our new apartment. A girl has to dream, right? Follow me after the jump, for the room tour plus an extra special giveaway!

Sophisticated minimalism by Norm Architects

Gorgeous architecture speaks for itself and when it comes to the work of Norm Architects it definitely doesn't need sumptuous adjectives or any fancy words to explain the clean and open spaces that characterise their style. This house in Denmark is a gorgeous example of a well attained simplicity with its high ceilings, the various levels and labyrinth form that follows the surroundings, the organic flow of sunlight entering through the strategically located openings and the unrefined finish of the walls and floor that add a more natural note to the stark design. Follow me after the jump for this impressive house tour.

THE ROOM: Contemporary bathroom illusion | via Septembre

It took me a considerably long time to realise that this bathroom has actually one sink and one entry door. For that matter, this little room is the most successful example of what a large wall to wall mirror can do to a space. And, if you add the glass door, the white mini hexagonal tiles, the b&w contrast and the amazing almost golden brass fixtures then you have a real gem popping out of the ordinary. So in love with you, you little adorable bathroom ^^

● Just look at this adorable little bird pillow!
● No need to spend all that money on high end toys. All you need is imagination, time and unused things to recycle.
These all look incredibly delicious. Too bad they are not edible!
● Talking about greek art and architecture at the Decorilla blog. Come and have a look.
● And then, there is this.
● Love the lighting in this office. Light tubes bring in the sun light seamlessly and organically.
● Cuteness overload in this little handmade bowl.
● I'm not sure about being successful or what but I do that a lot lately.
Smart ideas to make your everyday life rolling smoothly.
This made me laugh.

Eclectic scandinavian home

Friday, August 7, 2015
Eclectic scandinavian home styled by Tina Hellberg

I was at first smitten by the sleek kitchen; the wooden cabinetry, the inox countertop and the white tile splashback. Then, I dearly loved the huge wall corkboard next to the desk. Then, the gallery wall in the entry took my breath away, the concrete floor blew my mind and the simple yet utterly cushy bed made me want to curl up in there forever. To keep things short, there aren't many things in this eclectic home, styled by Tina Hellberg, that haven't spoken straight into my heart. Take a look for yourself, after the jump, and see what I'm talking about :)

10 white bedrooms to make you dream

White bedrooms to make you dream

I have this memory as a child of me lying on my parent's bed on an early summer afternoon, tucked under freshly washed white sheets smelling of lavender, with the sea breeze coming through the large window, softly stroking the sheer white curtains. I don't know why but this is one of the calmest moments I remember myself in and I still use it as virtual paradise I project myself into when I want to relax and break away from the toxifying everyday life.
I'm sure that for that reason alone I completely adore all white bedrooms. Although a bit tricky to handle and keep clean (and uncluttered of all those colorful bits and pieces of the everyday life), a white bedroom can indeed feel a haven on earth. Soft and cushy textiles, wool and cashmere, knitted blankets and luxurious carpets add a desirable coziness and make the room inviting all year long.
Here are 10 really gorgeous white bedrooms that I would more than happily love to wake up to.

It's really remarkable how these little green creatures transform an interior or, to rephrase, there is such a great deal of extra positive energy in a room with plants. I wouldn't mind spending hours in any of these spaces. Would you?

● Love the slim form of this brass table lamp.
● The 101 on hanging curtains.
● I'm a bit behind the chia trend but this weekend I'm finally trying it out with this super easy recipe.
● My backyard design (the one with that lustworthy little pool) with the favorite Ethimo outdoor furniture series shared on the Houseology site.
● Great idea to keep greens indoors even if you are a serious serial plant killer.
● Order this stunning geometric blanket for winter before it sells out!
● There is still plenty of summer left to make your own beach towels.
Lunch bag I would take to the office if I didn't work from home.
● Wipe off these nasty little stress triggers for a happier life..
● ..or simply stare at these amazingly serene waves photos until calm.
