THE ROOM: Contemporary sophisticated kitchen

THE ROOM: Contemporary sophisticated kitchen. Photo via Shootfactory

Now, here's a kitchen that includes all the latest trends we love to see all around, and in a quite successful manner I must add. Count with me; one, the marble countertop and backsplash, two, the white subway tiles in the, three, glass door black upper cabinets, which are beautifully matched with the, four, unrefined wood lower cabinets and the, five, practical swing arm wall sconces pairing the, six, bare bulb pendant lamps hanging over the island. Special mention to the pipe sink faucet and the mini herb garden springing from the center of the island. I'm just blown away by the subtle industrial result of the design, which is way more sophisticated and elegant than your average loft kitchen. What do you think? Like it or not so much?

Scandinavian eclectic kids rooms

Scandinavian eclectic kids rooms | My Paradissi

It is no secret that I spend a little time more than usual browsing through kids rooms lately, for the obvious reason. of course. Although, we are not planning on having a separate room for our baby during the first months (he'll be staying in our bedroom) I just can't stop drooling over creative and fancy ones I come across in the web. Especially the ones decorated by scandinavian moms. Love the high contrast created by the ample black details, the bold saturated color splashes, the bunting and garlands and the eclectic choices of art and toys. All the rooms I'm sharing with you today come from the Styleroom, an online community of interior design enthusiast with tons of scandinavian inspiration from real homes. Enjoy :)

Holiday home in Menorca

Summer home in Menorca | My Paradissi

Today, I'm skipping the whole almost winter gray weather cozy fire feeling of late October and I'm taking you somewhere warm. Like sunny Menorca and this amazing summer home right above the sea. Everything feels so crisp and bright in this place, exquisitely soothing and relaxing. Love all the rattan and wood references, the turquoise touches and the obvious scandinavian influences that look so gorgeous in this country setting. What I mostly love, apparently, is the incredible view to the sea, visible from both inside the house and outside. Follow me after the jump, for some lustworthy break from these gloomy days ;)

Urban Jungle Bloggers | My Plant Shelfie

My plant shelfie | My Paradissi #urbanjunglebloggers

Here's a post I've been meaning to write quite some time now. Actually, since I first found out about the Urban Jungle Bloggers I wanted to be part of the team. Have you heard them? Igor of Happy Interior Blog and Judith of Joelix have created an online platform for bloggers to share their love on plants and all sorts of interior greenery.

My plant shelfie | My Paradissi #urbanjunglebloggers

My cup of tea precisely! As I've mentioned before, living in a ground floor apartment in the center of the city and with no outdoor space, has left me craving for nature more than I could have ever imagined. I try my best to keep my window sills flooded with plants but that won't be anywhere close to satisfy my thirst for those invigorating green creatures.

Now, with my living room redo, I created a specific spot to bring together some more of my lovelies with the help of two white IKEA lack shelves. And, since its only a couple of weeks that I completed the project feels like I'm quite on time for an Urban Jungle Bloggers shelfie. Love how this wall now feels fresh and vibrant. The plants I've picked seek for very little care and attention but create a big impact on the white background. I also have this snake plant I kept in a vase (with just water) for more than 3 years (!). I don't know how it manages to survive for so long without any soil but I'm so glad it does ;). In the photo below, I've placed it inside a leather bag as I've recently (read: this morning) managed to break the vase. As it seems, I'm quite satisfied with its new container I'm thinking of just leaving it this way.

DIY: Gallery wall alternatives

DIY: Gallery wall alternatives | My Paradissi

A few days ago we talked about all those not-your-typical-framed-art items you can hang on a gallery wall collection to make it even more impressive and unique. Today, I'd like to share with you a few diys I came across the web that can all be used for that matter. Most of them are quite simple (the plush deer head not so much- but  ain't it a real cutie?) so maybe you can try them over the weekend. Happy crafting , friends :)

Rustic kitchen shelving inspiration

Rustic kitchen shelving inspiration | My Paradissi

I'm always fascinated by rustic country kitchens. That's, quite possibly, because I've subconsciously connected fresh and pure food with the countryside. Maybe, on the other hand, it is because sleek white porcelain, shiny copper and crystal clear glass look too good on contrasting unrefined and vintage cabinetry and shelving for my visual thirsty self to ignore. For that matter, here is today's inspiration; open kitchen shelves and glass door cabinets with wonderful kitchenware displays to lust for. Enjoy :)

ETSY MIX of the week

ETSY MIX of the week | My Paradissi

1 | Always enjoy reading Jennifer's blog and be inspired by its minimalistic and scandinavian approach. Her jewelry creations are equally impressive in their simplicity (amerrymishap, $24)
2 | I have the urge lately to fill the home with cute handmade plushies to prepare the ground for my baby boy's arrival. This little bear is one of my faves (ohalbatross, $68)
3 | Just love how delicate and subtly glam this feather garland with the glittery tips look (HandmadeforEisley, $18)
4 | That's a great reminder to come across in your cup everyday after coffee or surprise a friend with (weegallery, $25)
5 | I have a thing for anything cloud shaped lately (check n.2) and this grown up version pot holder is too sweet. Would make an excellent housewarming gift too (BoHelina, $21)
6 | Oh, please, this might just be the prettiest print one can place in a nursery! Really, tiny hedgehogs are so so cute ^^ (Roighn, $21)

12 alternative ideas to hang on a gallery wall

12 alternative items to hang on a gallery art wall | Image via The Everygirl.
Image via The Everygirl.
There are only a million ways to create an interesting gallery wall. Mixing various frame finishes, sizes, art styles and artists is definitely a great place to start. But if you're looking to take your display into a whole new level, why not try mixing non framed accents as well? We've seen this trend going on quite some time now and it gets even more exciting, with all the new ideas being shared by talented designers, stylists and bloggers over time. By combining favorite objects, like a travel souvenir, a handmade project or a heirloom piece with frames one can easily create a unique and exquisite gallery with personalized references. Moreover, decorative objects can add depth, texture or bling thus make the finished result way more interesting to the eye. Here's a list of 12 ideas you can use for your own personal wall but, rest assured, there are plenty more things one can add to this list. What do you think? Would you use any of these as part of your gallery wall?

The room: Neo rustic bathroom

Neo rustic bathroom of Danielle de Lange. Photo by Paulina Arcklin
Now, really, how cool is Danielle de Lange's bathroom? Angular roofs and exposed unrefined wooden beams are not an everyday sight to come across in a typical bathroom, and this one, is simply too gorgeous on top of the above. It is spacious, with each function separated from the others, two sinks, a large shower and a freestanding bathtub, all in neutral and white hues, with distinct country influences. Always love when function meets style, don't you? See and read more about this space in Danielle's blog, The Style Files.

1 | The typical bare pendant lamp has gone a long way with the brass ring addition. Love them in pairs! (LightCookie, $65+)

3 | I know I'm not subjective and such on my 7th month of pregnancy but aren't these tiny baby foxgloves too darn cute? (TheBlueberryElephant, $30.73)
4 | Oh, found these pretty ceramic planters for my new shelf (seasonsforyou, $16)
5 | Suede is the texture to touch as colder days unfold. Love the muted hues of this pouch (CORIUMI, $120)
6 | The quirky creations of Kim Baise always get my attention. Just like this paper mache horse dream catcher mobile that is supposed to bring good luck (jikits, $49)

Sag Harbour cottage by ASH NYC

Sag Harbour cottage by ASH NYC | My Paradissi

A little cottage beauty is never a bad idea, especially when it comes to a new week start. This place, designed by ASH NYC, has been around the internet for a couple of years now, since first posted in Lonny magazine, but I find its elegant warmth and easy going glam so appropriate for these chilly fall days. I'm particularly in love with the unrefined woods - furs mix, as I find it is this exact combination that adds up to the whole cozy feeling. But, I just can't leave out the aged wide floor planks, the eclectic art pieces that sooth down the country vibe by adding a sophisticated touch and the muted gray and golden hues on the white background seamlessly married with warm orange details. Enjoy more photos, after the jump :)

Sophisticated cozy living rooms

Sophisticated cozy living room via KK Living
Sophisticated cozy living room via Stadshem

Love how cozy yet utterly sophisticated and smart these spaces look, in their white and neutral stillness, with all the soft textures and the over abundance of throws, pillows and rugs. My new dining table and console have just arrived and there is a total mess at home right now. It is a great excuse to do some drawer and cabinet rearranging around here so I'm keeping today's post a bit short. Happy Friday, friends! xoxo
