STYLE MIX: Coastal | Riviera | Cosmopolitan

35% coastal, 35% Riviera, 25% cosmopolitan and 5% bohemian style mix | My Paradissi

To my mind, the French (and Italian for that matter) Riviera is the synonym for cosmopolitan, laid back glamour. Like, long hours of doing nothing but enjoying the good life (name a few: the most gourmet delicacies, the finest of wines, the softest of clothes and the prettiest of the environments). Just like taking a summer course in style and sophistication. And then, there is this coastal feeling throughout the whole style input. Of course. The meaning of the name riviera is actually 'coastline' in italian. Now, let that salty breeze chill the glamour part a little, add a small amount of the bohemian carefree attitude and you have that exact style mix that takes summer into a whole new level. Are you with me on that? Follow me, after the jump, to see my take on a 35% coastal, 35% Riviera, 25% cosmopolitan and 5% bohemian style mix.

10 BEST: Rattan armchairs

Rattan armchairs | Image by Nancy Neil via Gardenista

I'm still missing an outdoor space but that can merely stop me from dreaming of the furniture I'd pick for it. Take for example these rattan armchairs. Too good to miss. The good thing is that we've seen lots of rattan happening indoors, so I can actually see one of the below in my living room as well (gravitating towards this or maybe that one). My picks have all that thick rattan weave, totally bringing back memories of the 70ies. But in a fresh and contemporary kind of way. More elegant and more simple in form but equally curvaceous and natural. What do you think of rattan furniture? Do you own one or would love to buy? Anything from my picks that you like?

THE ROOM: Outdoor shower

Outdoor shower | Image by Aubrey Jonsson via House&Leisure
This post is not exactly for a room, neither for an outdoor space as a whole. It is for that desirable promise this exterior shower nook makes. The story behind the image. The outdoor shower next to the bathroom, the wooden deck and the pretty swim hanger, all dictate that a water source is very close by. Is it a pool or is this home really close to the beach? Either case, I'm convinced I would love to live there. I really dig this shady spot with the harsh white stucco finishes and the slim metallic door and window frames too. It's all in the details, baby, all in the details..

Etsy picks from the Etsy Greek Street Team | My Paradissi

I had the pleasure this past week to become a guest pinner for my beloved Etsy Greek Street Team. For those of you who are not familiar, the EGST is a group of artists and crafters who sell through etsy and are of greek origins or live in Greece. Among my picks, there are loads of products shipping from the Aegean islands, with this specific greek sea breeze (like this bracelet, but also this cute shadow box), leather goods, crocheted pretties and some amazing lighting fixtures (like these lamps or these). As you can tell, a list of 6 is only to small to include them all but you are more than welcome to visit our board on pinterest to have a more thorough look :)

Shop this collection: 1.Notes A6 notebook (10antemeridiem, $5), 2.Striped reversible lunch bag (EllensAlley, $38), 3.Sea photography (MessProject, $25.11), 4.Long wooden necklace (terrafique, $35), 5.Boho wrap bracelet (Loulalalou, $18), 6.Blue geometry tile coasters (Tilissimo, $27 for a set of 4)

Country chill in Mallorca

Family house in Es Llombards, Mallorca, design by SMS Arquitectos, photos by Salva López

These are the days that, each year, I get butterflies in my stomach when I come across homes that bring out this sort of country chillness. It's not about the architecture or the design (well, it is, but not only that), it is the feeling these images bring out that speaks right into my heart. The calmness, the gentle way the sun sneaks through the openings, the sunwashed stonewalls, the surviving cacti and the sparkling pool waters, the shady nooks and the sturdy earthly surfaces, the promise of silence and relaxation. I know I'm not being objective, for these scenes remind me of my carefree childhood summers I love/need to live again each coming year. A long prologue, but now you know why I had no second thoughts on sharing with you the photos of this single family house in Es Llombards in Mallorca designed by SMS Arquitectos. I'm not posting the interior, as it is not exactly my style (not bad either, check it out here), it is the outdoors that got my attention in the first place. What do you think? Join me for a few days of switching off?

Sophisticated kitchen | Image by Jessica Glynn via Blair Harris Interior Design

Hello there, pretty lady ^^ I really wish you were my own. Now, asides from flirting with this gorgeous kitchen, designed by Blair Harris Interior Design, I have to put down on paper a few of its glorious assets, just for future client's possible reference. The black lacquered cabinetry gets softly understated by the butchers block countertop and the casual folklor rug, while the white subway tiles, the inox appliances and the brass handles (wow, these brass handles!) add that sophisticated note to the whole design. Special kudos to the unrefined, yet delicate, ceiling beams. What do you think? Would you like this kitchen design for your home too?

10 BEST: Striped bath towels | Image by Brittany Ambridge via Domino

Time for some bathroom uplifting, friends! And, what better (and easier) way there is than to update the bathroom linens, that is towels, robes mats and curtains. Narrowing down my selection to towels this time, I just can't get over the beautiful striped ones I see all around the web. They have this charisma of adding many bonus points on (even the dullest) bathroom design on an instant. Here are my 10 picks (which you might have guessed by now are in neutral, blue or greyish tones ;) Do you spot any favorites on this list?

Dropping by, on a quick note, to share some blue and white inspiration. As the warmer days are here to stay, we all need spaces that bring out cool vibes and refreshing notes. Like the above bedroom. The sunrays sneaking through the blinds add that extra tone of coziness on the already crisp and cushy bed. Looks ideal, after spending a few good moments next to the pool on that iconic stripy chair, don't you think?

My Paradissi is 4

Wednesday, June 11, 2014
Mediterranean terrace via El Corte Inglés

A happy announcement: My Paradissi is celebrating its fourth blogiversary today! I really can't believe it's been 4 years since I wrote my first post on this blog (which I actually deleted next year- but here's the second one ;) Before I get all sentimental, I'd like to thank you guys so so much for reading/following/loving this little blog, for your everyday company, your feedback, your emails and comments, your gifts, I just can't begin to tell you how lucky I feel to have you. Literally, this blog would be nothing without you. THANK YOU :)
I guess that's how things work; you carelessly start experimenting on a new hobby, you fall in love, it completely grows on you, you spend long hours just the two of you, like lovers, you keep evolving together and then one day you look back and feel dizzy of all the distance being traveled. Oh, the glorious travel. My Paradissi keeps me in a constant challenge to get better at my work, to be a better blogger and a better person at the same time. Has taught me to work hard (and to enjoy it), to be patient and persistent, to ask for what I want and get it. I really can't imagine my life without it.
So, here's to more ideas, more posting, more inspiration and fun! We're all together in this one ;)

Etsy mix of the week: Black | My Paradissi

Having a total black etsy mix post today, believe me, was totally unintentional. But then, I kept liking and pinning a whole lot of blackness these days so I thought why not share a few on the blog as well. A black object has the ability to show off its form and material in a rather graphic and straightforward kind of way. So here are 6 of my latest favorites from Etsy. Is there something you'd pick as well?

Shop this collection: 1.Vintage 80ies ruffle swimsuit (allencompany, $65), 2.Black paper mache rabbit wall decor (Macheanimal, $52), 3.Vintage mid century mod corning glassware set (kibster, $25), 4.Danish modern cast iron IHQ clover candleholder (WiseApple, $38), 5.Oxidized black hexagon geometric earrings (RawObjekt, $49), 6.AEG black industrial pendant lamp (ArqueologiaDomestica, $160.41)

Style mix: Sophisticated | Classic | Rustic | My Paradissi

This has got to be one of my favorite style combinations until now. Mixing two almost contradicting styles, the elegant, delicate and exquisite classic with the unrefined, rough and real rustic can only create wonders. Like porcelain and bare stone, lace and sandals, figs and goat cheese. Things are kept neutral and simple so as the true beauty to be the actual object of admiration, emerging from the object in a carefree and effortless way. Putting it down on numbers this mix equals 30% sophisticated, 30% classic, 25% rustic and 15% natural style.

Eclectic b&w bedrooms | Photo via Reading my tea leaves.
Photo via Reading my tea leaves.

Most of us have unintentionally connected black and white with scandinavian interiors, isn't that right? Today's case embraces indeed this beloved duality but in completely other manner whatsoever. A more eclectic, global and elegant kind of way. Like the impressive headboard in the first photo. Really, what more does a bedroom need than an exquisite statement piece and a complementary decor that actually promotes that piece? I'm all for simplicity lately and this crisp sophisticated style is constantly on my radar. I just love the monochromatic ethnic touches and the subtle industrial hints that add that extra sparkle in the room. See after the jump, a few more examples of such spaces and a few shopping ideas to make your own. Enjoy ^^
