Casual eclectic home in Sydney

House tour: Casual eclectic home in Sydney. Photo by Prue Ruscoe via Homelife

After spending a good full hour browsing through the amazing homes showcased in Homelife, and an hour is quite a time when counted in megabytes, I finally decided which home I'd share with you today on the blog. It is no news that I totally adore the happy, breezy aesthetics of the Australians and today's home tour is just the case. Sun filled rooms are decorated with an exquisite use of color and pattern and an astounding mix of mid century and contemporary pieces in great balance and taste. Somehow, most australian homes carry this all-year-long vacation feeling I can't say no to, especially now that the days have become too warm and big to ignore. And, there is this seamless connection of the inside with the outside with the xl windows and the all green yards surrounding the building that makes things even juicier. An eye candy, I tell ya friends, an eye candy..

Skymetric | Minimal urban photography by Lino Russo

How cool are these graphic photos of colorful buildings touching the sky by Lino Russo? Love the geometric forms and the bold colors on the azure background. Really, it is amazing how a photographer's eye can see the beauty in everyday things most people simply pass by. See more of Lino's work here.

Natural side tables

Natural side tables | Photo by Sean Fennessy via The Design Files.

As a dearest fan of contrasts, I just can't stay passive in front of this ongoing trend of rough, unrefined side tables I come across every day. Those wooden beauties are probably the easiest way to add that natural harshness inside your home, in your living room, dining room or bedroom. Ah, bedroom. This is the room to actually take advantage of. How stunning is this fluffy, soft and crispy bed linen - rough, rustic, organic form contrast? I adore it! It adds up so much to the room, don't you think? And there are so many ways to accomplish that result. From actual tree trunks to curved ones, painted ones, or, for a less rustic feeling, vintage wooden stools in a rough finish or more eclectic woven ones. To be precise, just check my shopping list below. Which one is your favorite? Would you adopt that style in your home?

My home, my paradise #8

My home, my paradise #8 | My Paradissi

I'm all for texture and romance today. In my terms, this is interpreted as a casual country style with elegant feminine touches, in neutral hues with details in black to add some interest. Such a home would be located in the suburbia, or somewhere where gardens and views and all the ample sunlight to enter generously in the interiors. I already smell the freshly cut flowers in the vases and feel the crisp bed linens on my skin. In my dream home, there will definite be..

DIY: Cute pendant lamps

DIY: Cute pendant lamps | My Paradissi

It's been a long time since my last diy post, so today is the right day to share with you a small bunch. And, since I feel all cutie and girlie these last few days, I couldn't but put together a tutorials list of really sweet and fancy pendant lamps I gathered from around the blogosphere. They'd look so great in a kid's room or a single gal's abode and, some of them with a twist on colors and materials would fit in any part of the home whatsoever. Would you try any of these during the weekend?

Antiques on Old Plank Road

I have always been fascinated by the warmth and the nostalgic feeling an antique can bring to a space. Like, bringing along a history to narrate, bonding the present with the past, adding class and character. I love the ongoing trend of incorporating such pieces in more contemporary spaces, soothing down the formal, sometimes strict lines of the modern design, yet keeping a light weighted and exquisite result.
These are some thoughts that came into my mind when I was first contacted by the Antiques on Old Plank Road, a leading online retailer for antique furniture with nearly 3,000 products. There, you will find antique and vintage pieces, as well as stunning reproductions, of European furniture and accents, mostly from France and England. Their showroom is located in Chicago but can arrange shipping all around the world if needed.
Antiques on the Old Plank Road is providing My Paradissi readers an exclusive 15% discount with coupon code myparadissi15 to shop antique and vintage products on their store! Maybe now it’s the right time to shop that unique antique piece that has been missing from your living room ;)

ETSY MIX of the week

ETSY MIX of the week | My Paradissi

Feel like hiding in a rose garden, letting the sun rays kindly kiss my cheeks, somewhere between the blooms and the thorns. Or, at least, bring this feeling indoors with these picks from Etsy ;) I've been an admirer of the retro futuristic lamps of DAMM Design quite a time now (how cool is this one utilizing both copper and brass in a single design?) and today I was ecstatic to stumble upon the work of Karine Léger. Her collages bring out an amazing amount of feelings in a really straight forward yet subtle way. So, what do you think of today's etsy mix? Would you pick anything from the list?

Shop this collection: 1.Be Wild & Wonderful print (bellesandghosts, $8+), 2.Edgy burst earring (leahstaley, $50+), 3.Small table lamp (DAMMdesign, $400), 4.Roses photography (RivuletPhotography, $30+), 5.Aztec pillow cover (5CHomeDecor, $14.99), 6.Hidden place collage (tiroirdumilieu, $80)

Style guide: 45% preppy

Style guide for 45% preppy, 20%elegant, 20%minimal and 15% basic style | My Paradissi

I just love the marriage of elegance and minimalism! It  has this undeniably pure, fresh and relaxing feeling and is mostly characterized by this understated and effortless luxury. Like one is born with this asset and floats through it as it is a second nature. When it is visualised in bright creams, whites and neutrals things get way more interesting. Like sheer white linens, slim golden details, delicate marble veins, watercolor strokes and serif typography. Nothing provocative, nothing fancy. Just 45% preppy, 20% elegant, 20% minimal and 15% basic.
