Do you know this kind of mornings that you wake up fresh and happy to grasp on to the vibe of the new week only to get things terribly wrong only a few hours later? That's me today. I was about to start writing about this amazing place when some ugly news hit on my door. Nothing too serious or life threatening (I'm a drama queen so as you know) but bad enough to seriously ruin the day.
So, here's my blog acting as a saviour and taking me afar to the prettiest of homes where, obviously everything goes smoothly and cheerfully and smells like jasmine and roses. This happy sanctuary belongs to Joanna Laajisto, interior architect and designer and Mikko Ryhänen, photographer, and is located in Helsinki. It is a medium sized downtown apartment filled with design pieces and vintage finds, decorated in a casual way that is deeply inspired by the simplicity of the scandinavian design. Follow me, after the jump, for some more feel good photos of this beautiful apartment ^^
Nothing beats a white painted wooden floor in an apartment. Just look how delicately the sun strokes the bright surfaces and makes the room look bigger and cleaner. Love the flowers and plants scatterer around; they add an invigorating feel good vibe in the living room.
The famous Platner coffee table looks brilliant on the moroccan beni ourain rug, creating a visual game with its radial metallic structure.
Yet another visual game happens in the dining room. The all white floor to ceiling scene leaves space for a vintage dining table matched with metallic Bertoia chairs and the large basic geometric shapes on the wall, in the form of mirror and framed art. Special likes to the jewel of the scene; the futuristic brass Louis Poulsen pendant lamp.
The kitchen looks stunning! Although this is the only shot we have of it and can't actually tell its size or layout, I adore the use of materials in it. Marble countertop and sleek white cabinetry without handles create a chic and bright result that would probably look amazing both in a small space or a bigger one.
