Mexchic

Although far, far away from my place, I just love the colorful and vivid folkloric creations of Mexican culture as they remind me a lot of our traditional style here in Crete. Mexchic is a collaboration of traditional artisans in Mexico, who create traditional pieces with a modern twist, so as their products to be a perfect fit in our daily lives. I've met Mexchic before, through their amazing bouclĂ© floor pillow but their other creations are equally great!

Hand-loomed bouclĂ© area rug ($225)

Hand Carved Copal Wood Deer Bowl Set ($125)

Fresh lemonade on the terrace

City balcony design

Happy new week my friends! We're having our Holy Week here in Greece and heading towards Easter this weekend. That means preparations, baking and cleaning and, of course, a holiday mood of relaxation and enjoyment. The weather is so beautiful and warm, exactly how one would describe the ideal spring time. After cleaning up and decluttering I had loads of time to enjoy the warm sunrays  on my moms terrace along with a fresh lemonade made of handpicked lemons from my village.
My mom lives only a few stories above me, in the same apartment building as I do. Good thing is that she has the most beautiful terrace filled with dozens of plants and flowers she takes extra good care (I've already told you what a great green thumb she has). I'm overly attached to this place as this is the one I grew up in and spend all my summers playing with my little brother, so feel free to picture me running up and down like crazy on my tiny bicycle, or being just vaguely pretty (that's me in the last shot, posing in the same terrace, some 25 years ago, hehe).
Oh, those little pleasures in life! xoxo

Sunday would be a blissful one indeed, should it be spent in this super cute small cottage in the Hungarian countryside. I mean, so sweet and cozy, with a great terrace shaded by the wooden pergola and a soothing view to the lavender fields, that one can't possibly fait to have a most relaxing time there. The good news is that this cottage is for rent, so nothing stops you from having a try on it (and leave a comment back here to tell me if I'm right ;). You can see more information and book your stay here.

P.s. This petite caravan is equally sweet.

Outdoor patio inspiration
Outdoor inspiration

Hello my friends, how are you?
I'm all for fresh starts and cleanings around here. This weekend I'll be trying to declutter my home as much as I can, hide away the last woolen clothes and throws, plant a new basil on my window sill, bake an orange pie with the last oranges of the season and go out to enjoy the amazing almost summer sun on the sky. I'm keeping things simple, first in my mind and then in my life. Or, at least that's my moto for these days.
You know what I haven't done in a while? Sit outdoors and enjoy, with no distractions whatsoever (internet, book, newspaper or people) just me, emptying my mind and absorbing the pure energy  of the nature. I find it so hard to disconnect from everything and stay in peace but I'm doing it for I actually need it.
Hope you're having a marvelous weekend yourself, loves! xoxo

DIY trio: Cardboard boxes storage

Cardboard boxes diy storage.
Cardboard boxes diy storage.
Cardboard boxes diy storage.

Time for some spring organizing at My Paradissi. I need a few storage boxes to hide away stuff like shoes and scarves under my bed but the cost of buying them is a bit prohibited for my current financial state (15euros for a decent paper box? Really?). I got a few sturdy cardboard boxes for my nearby supermarket which I intend to dress up with wallpaper leftovers I have since my home renovation. And, as usual, a diy inspiration takes the project a long way. Today, I'm sharing with you 3 really interesting diys concerning repurposing or recycling old boxes. Take a look for yourself (click on the photos to view source) for they are very intriguing!

Tempting turquoise waters in Greece

most beautiful pools in Greece

Hehe, excuse me for my cheesy title but, as you'll see for yourself, the following photos are totally tempting and lustworthy. The sun here is shining bright and the weather feels like summer indeed. I picture myself hanging around each one of these photos and, really, it is the most difficult thing on earth to get back to my working chores and forget about crystal clear blue waters. Well, one deserves a few minutes of switching off and daydream a bit, right? This is for you, my friends! Enjoy ^^

The best toss pillows for your style

where to buy best pillows

Picking up the right toss pillows for your style can be a big pain with all those shops and choices that one has these days. I'm a hard decision maker myself so let's do us all a favor and see how three different styles can be put into practice with the shopping choices I've made. The styles I'm dealing with today are the nautical, the scandinavian and the ethnic ones. I'd love to hear some feedback as well as which of these three styles would do for you. Good luck on your picks! xoxo

flat living room ideas

I'd like to show you around my living room today. I had the chance to style it up a bit this weekend a take a few shots to post on the blog (most of you had a small peak yesterday). I've said it before, I'm quite shy when it comes to showing off but I'm really happy with my home and I'd love to share that with you.

Renaissance Italian garden

Renaissance landscape design

I'm totally and utterly smitten by this whimsical Italian garden, photographed in back in autumn. Its is so beautifully dressed in the golden warm hues of fall, that I can oh so easily imagine myself strolling through its alleys, smelling the fresh wet ground and feeling the invigorating chilly breeze on my hair (and almost makes me wish it were October all along, almost).
This garden is located in Northern Italy, in a vineyard villa and dates all the way back to Renaissance. It previous owner transformed the old garden to what it is today; an earthly heaven with a majestic richness and a breathtaking growth of hundreds of different plants.
Please, be my guest and enjoy the following photos! xoxo

Ethnic interior design
Fresh bedroom

Hello my friends, how are you?
Murphy's law is here once again to prove its existence and, as soon as I put away the carpets last weekend the weather turned chilly and gloomy, more like a late autumn atmosphere to be exact. It's good to know that these are the last cold days, however, to enjoy some more couch cuddling and warming fire.
Apart from that, I can't take off my mind a quote by Jack Kerouac I read a few days ago that says 'Be in love with your life every minute of it'. How important that is; to be the truest and most loyal fan of your own life, to have confidence in yourself and the paths you choose to take. I sometimes feel that I'm not that sure of own my steps and the awkward thing is that, this insecurity mostly comes from my fear of letting go and  believing in the forces of the universe rather than not liking my life the way it is now. Do you know what I mean? Oh, sometimes I think I have to think less and enjoy more. And that's that.
Let's all enjoy this weekend and embrace life as is, good and bad included. xoxo

t shirt rag rug tutorial

I love this project! In fact I tried to do my own braided t-shirt rug a few years ago but somehow the whole attempt turned out to be a failure. Now, this tutorial by Cintia of My Poppet and the amazing result makes me wanna try all over again. And, at this time of year, the spring closet re-arrangements seems to be the perfect excuse to upcycle those t-shirts I haven't worn in ages. If you are eager to try as well, you'll find the tutorial here.

Home design outdoor living
Here's a terrace that captured my heart pronto! It is the ideal size for actually living outside during the warm summer months and perfectly protected with all the tall plantation that's hiding the view of the city buildings. I love outdoor spaces that are treated with a cozy, indoors approach. Like this one, with the amazing deck floor and the warm colored kilim, the nook created with the wicker sofa and the contradicting metallic chairs and table. Wouldn't mind having that lemonade right now, care to join me?

P.s. You can treat your outdoor space with decking materials for a similar result!
