Country chic home in Crete

Today I'd like to share with you the home of a dearest close person of mine. Maria has kindly let me photograph her recently renovated apartment with all the amazing Christmas decorations she put together for the holiday. You know how it goes with renovations; concurrently accompanied by redecorations, new perspectives and that great burst of inspiration that comes along with everything new. Maria's home has always been of those welcoming and extra cozy places, with the perfect temperature, lighting and music (that's her husband's deal ;) ambience. Now, if one can say so, the things got even bit warmer and cozier and the Christmas decorations are definitely to blame. Thick evergreen garlands, bowls with traditional cookies, figures and candles accompany a 2 meter high tree wrapped up with gingham ribbon and decorated with dozens of candy canes, rustic and felt ornaments. The space under the tree is soon to be filled with presents for the twins and friends; I really can't tell you how their cute little faces shine from happiness in this surrounding. I know I feel like a child in there ^^

The warm southern light that enters the dining room makes everything a bit cozier.

This traditional greek Christmas delicacy is called Kourabiedes and are butter and almond cookies sprinkled with lots of confectioner's sugar (just like snow!)

A clay ship made by a friend of the couple is hung on the wall of the dining room. We have a tradition in Greece to decorate ships for Christmas (just like we do with trees) so this one is subtly decorated with a small wire wreath.

The small kitchen table has an exquisite mexican flair created by the built in square tiles on its surface.

A Christmas vignette with a tree candle and papier mache pomegranates. Pomegranates in Greece are a symbol of good luck, well-being and fertility and are usually met in the holiday decorations.

P.s. Yes, you have seen this place before. I've posted a few shots a year ago here. Good for you to remember =)
