I finally coming into terms with the fact that riads are probably the most whimsical place to stay while being on vacation (or not). My deepest love of Morocco definitely originates from all those renovated and beautifully styled riads that are spread like little sparkling gems throughout the country. So, it was actually no surprise to come across this amazing place in one of the most historical cities of Morocco, Fez. Dar Rafti is an beautifully restored riad owned by the jewellery designers of Bouvier, Rebecca Raft and Peter Conroy.
Dar Rafti is certain to please even the most difficult style seeker. Unrefined materials, wood, clay, tiles and stucco, all in warm sepia and white hues, create a warm atmosphere that spices up with all the prominent folkloric touches of the moroccan aesthetics. Arched doorways, high ceilings, engraved wooden frames and metalworks, typically patterned textiles and pottery are to name a few.
I'm always impressed by the simplicity of the moroccan decoration. A few touches here and there, delicate natural hues and a few contemporary finishes, just to freshen up the traditional vibe, and the result is so cozy and friendly I really can't resist.
