I bet there are not many places that can beat Johannesdal in eclecticism and bohemian class. Chris and Dane's home in Cape Town, South Africa, brims with weathered antiques, collectibles and art, all sheltered inside an brutal architectural form that reminisces of modernist times.
There is a unique sense of freedom in this unorthodox abode that I admire; although I call myself a more collected person, it would be a fun alternative to spend some time in a place that feels more like a theatrical scene rather than a home.
I love the various nooks created here and there in the open plan space, defined by a statement chair, a collection of art pieces or a vintage carpet. I also adore the quirky mix of bare concrete ceilings and vintage Louis XVI upholstered chaise, the bold use of colors and patterns and the considerably large amount of interior plants and flowers that complete the surreal scenery. As for the last, it is no wonder , as its owners also keep OKASIE, a leading florist in South Africa.
Oh, and the fun part is that you can no way guess the rich interior world of this place just by looking it from afar!
