Sunday bliss (around Crete)

Sunday, February 24, 2013

These are some photos I took yesterday while visiting an old, dilapidated village in the heart of the cretan mountains. The weather was just perfect to create a whimsical atmosphere, with thick white clouds and a bright sun to highlight the abandoned stone houses. There is a certain appeal in this old  scenery, and in addition to the lifeless, empty of people streets, it almost reminds me of thriller movies scenes. I really wish such places to be renovated and restored; there is so much potential to it, if only money weren't an issue.

P.s. More cretan landscapes here.

  7. My dream is to live on Crete in an old small house. Now counting down the time to leave- for six weeks I will be on my beloved island. I'll be there only a week but I am very pleased!

  9. Generally speaking, curators or bloggers that present others' work are great when they choose the best artists and the best works out there. But if it happens to present their own work in the same category, there is a chance it might be not that good. In your case Eleni, if you blend your work (either photography or interiors) into your usual post, no one would spot the difference. You are at the same level (visually speaking, because you might be even better if we judge quality) with the ones you admire and share with us. I will keep on encouraging you to post more of your work more often.
Now, according the abandoned houses, it is a matter that speaks to my heart. My dream job is peeking up houses for people tor renovate. I have an eagle's eye to spot a perfect looking tiny old house in the high slope of a mountain and create a magic possible life out of it. I wish people who can afford it would choose to renovate rather than build. It would keep tradition alive and save us from possible ugliness. Living in a city where old buildings are smashed down and disappear in a single night to let high buildings take their place, I always feel like crying to the phenomenon.
Anyway, thanks for sharing and great job, like always.
May you have a nice week :)
    xoxo

    1. Lisa thank you so much for your words! Really, thank you so so much!!!
I still feel a bit shy showing off my personal work as there is so much beauty in the net I can't even compete. Your comment means a lot to me!
I hope you make your dream come true one day, for your sake and our sake as well. Such places and buildings need to be treated with kindness and respect.
      xoxo
