North Star ranch

Monday, November 19, 2012
I might not be familiar with the american country architecture but I have a fairly clear vision of what a ranch might look like (thank you, dear hollywood, for that). This one, however, seems not to be your ordinary ranch. Miller Architects have managed to incorporate the mediterranean elegance with the american rural life into what turns out to be a gem in Southern Colorado.
High ceilings with heavy wooden beams, stucco surfaces, arched doorways, wooden craftsmanship and vintage kilims are a few characteristic details that create that mediterranean feeling. I love the warmth and coziness of this place, I also like the surroundings of it. I know deep down that that's the kind of house that I'm made to live in.

What do you think? Does this ranch speak to your heart too?

P.s. You can see previous house tours here.

  1. What a fab escape this is, Eleni. The exposed beams remind me of the beams we had in our kitchen when I was a kid.

  2. It is simply perfect Eleni. For once more, your taste is unmistakable. Usually I find ranches a bit rigid and cold, like a simple place to host a lot of people (maybe soap operas got me the wrong message) but this one is indeed very warm and has a lot of personal spaces created by architectural means and not only interior design. Thanks for sharing.
    Have a great week :)
