Kitchen inspiration

I feel really overwhelmed by this impressive kitchen island and, once more, I think to myself how life enhancing it is to have a large kitchen with ample countertops and storage and, of course, generous daylight  coming through the windows (esp. when these have that industrial touch that adds up the the whole room attitude).

Family wall

Having a little too many frames lying around (and a rather crowded extended family to love)? Gather them up and create a unique and vibrant memories display! They seem so well suited altogether, don't you think?

P.S. The lucky winner of the Bates Mercantile Co. Giveaway is shirley fin. Thanks for playing!

Living ambience

White sofas pampered with bulks of multi-colored pillows and white walls bearing dark, kind of obscure, art complementing the melancholic ambient daylight coming through the windows. It's like a cloudy midweek morning..

I love what Nicole of Me oh My has done with her place (check rest of it here and here). Isn't that colorful boho nook the perfect place for some cozy cocooning?

Air or earth?

Here are two bedrooms better described as minimalistic sanctuaries of piece and wisdom. Just you, a bed (with an extra, super soft fake fur throw) and your choice of wise time spending (books or TV, hehe). Now, get in touch with your inner needs and decide where you want to gather  the universal energy from; is it from the air on that hovering bed or from the solid ground on that floor bed? Ommm..

Four: dining rooms

Starting off this week with a few dining rooms that caught my attention lately. I'm pretty sure that if I had a large dining table in my house I would have spent there most of my day.

Sunday bliss

I'm picturing myself laying on these pillows, enjoying the soft breeze stroking the leaves, under the peaceful, while sky.. How's your Sunday so far?

Manhattan Loft

Snapshots of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin’s loft in Manhattan, designed by Simrel Achenbach of Descience Laboratories. Ceilings that reach the sky, bookcases complementing those high walls and a successful blending of simple, contemporary forms with a boho, artsy touch that brings the expected excitement to the abode of the two, at least as exciting, artists. Can't seem to take my eyes of that white bookartcase and those ample, playful knots of the all around pine shelvings. Oh yeah, I could live there too..

Dream kitchen

Just the perfect amount of cottage style, with an extra large window to die for and ample white cabinetry to hide away all that is necessary to a contemporary kitchen (and not only..). Extra 10 points for that worn wood island with that superb chandelier right above. And those wide floor planks to complete the whole greatness.. *sigh*

Rain whisper

I woke up to the sound of pouring rain this morning. Gosh, I really thought i would have forgotten that drifting, invigorating sound! It's been a good 3 months I haven't even seen a single cloud on the sky, so now, officially I can wish you happy autumn from this part of the world. With that moody weather, that I had missed so much, I feel more inspired to sit myself down and get to work (instead of taking long strolls under the happy sun and enjoying cool coffees at the park- oh, summer I love you too!). How is it where you live? I guess to most friends of the Northern Hemisphere the autumn must have arrived quite a few days now, right?

Light and texture

Today's inspiration is all about texture and light. Velvet and cotton, rough wood and rattan, brass and galvanized accents and plenty organic items like branches, plants or fresh fruit come together to create a most welcoming atmosphere. An extra large art piece situated on the back to provide the necessary depth in the space along with that personal attitude that gives character to the room. So what to you think?

Fresh and sleek

I'd love some sleek kitchen inspiration to start the week. Metallics and whites and the perfect amount of natural materials (wood+rattan+cork) along with a serene, bright atmosphere to enjoy a nutritious breakfast, perfect starter for a brand new day.

Kitchen floor love

Deeply and truly in love with these tile floors. Not that they are the only thing worth mentioning in the above kitchens (check the symmetrical vintage benches and an amazing trestle table or the industrial b&w blending below).

No matter how blurry or dreamy, hazy or drifty, green leaves can always save the day. And that wet, solid smell of soil (soul)..

The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.

Energy levels

How hard it is sometimes to get off the bed and just face the world? A good friend once told me that not every day is the same and, like the moon fills and empties each month, so does our body and mood (not depending to the moon, however). Our biorhythms simply follow the waves of nature and it would be a good thing simply to accept that. The question is, how to deal with heavy chores the days you feel down, right? *sigh* I'll have to figure that out today..

Reading siesta

Now, here is an idyllic scene for a midday siesta.
Chilly weather, a few clouds in the sky and after a long, busy and noisy morning at work you find shelter at your coziest nook in your place, curl up in that soft and squashy chaise, right next to your full of wonders bookcase and grab your favorite book. Jazzy tunes are coming from the background, while you hazily cover up your legs with that cozy throw and slowly fall asleep only to bring your book characters to keep you company there..

Monday mumblings

Good morning, dearests! How was your weekend? I was able to shut everything down, rest my mind for a while and prepare myself for a hectic week ahead.
It's not to complain, though, things in Greece get more difficult each day (waves of unemployment and extra taxes just keep coming..) and it's more than a blessing to have even the tiniest of projects to work to- and not, by any means, be unhappy if what you spend your working hours on isn't fulfilling or hearted the least.
So, let the engines roll, deep breath now, have a super new week everyone! (Hopefully, most of you have the chance to get your breakfast in a place like the above =)

SoHo Loft

It might be dark and moody (no wonder, this loft belongs to horror movie director Marcus Nispel) but definitely breathtaking and majestic. And with a high amount of a mysterious vibe in the atmosphere. I wouldn't have any objections living in a loft with great brick walls, bookcases that reach the sky and an indoor pool on the groundfloor.

White and bright spaces draw my attention quite often lately (like these a few days ago). I find the freshness and clearness they emerge rather invigorating and totally suitable for a month like September. It would be perfect to start my day and have my first, strong coffee in one of these living rooms, absorbing all the powerfully pure energy of the non-colored surroundings.

Rustic and elegant bedrooms

I love these bedrooms (and I can't help myself whenever I feel tired to browse through my bedroom inspiration folder and drool..). Those black metal canopy beds with the sheer, white curtains in their great favor and that concrete red floor to die for, oh, I wouldn't mind ending my day there..
