Located in one of the most sacred Aegean islands, Patmos, this small cottage is the epitome of humbleness and modesty. Architect Katerina Tsigarida has managed to keep its original aspects of a seasonal, country abode, used as a shelter for the people harvesting the grape yards around it. Just the perfect sanctuary, in utter connection to its surroundings, lit by the ample mediterranean sun light.
Such a fulfilling and exhausting day today! I went trekking into a most beautiful gorge in Southern Crete, Oreino Gorge, gasping from awe throughout almost the entire journey. After hours of walking through breathtaking rock mountains and waterfalls, we reached the small, coastal village of Koutsouras where we swam into the still cool, crystal sea waters and had fresh fish and beer next to the shore (yes, that exact table you see on the photo!). Oh my, I think summer is here for good!
Images of the gorge via here. Table by the sea shot by me. Many thanks to pezoporikos.gr for the organizing of this trip.
I feel rather arty today and I'd love to have homemade wine and fresh fruits and talk about cinema and poetry in this tiny parisian loft, or browse with extra attention through my friend's art collection.
Some bedroom inspiration to bring this working week to a relaxing ending. Although this is the last Friday of May the weather reminds more of autumn, the rain doesn't seem to stop and the mood is more of a cocooning type. Stay at home, hot cocoa and a movie on the laptop. See you tomorrow my friends! xo
I tend to have a soft spot for real life sanctuaries lately and these two shots of a Californian home designed by Michael DePerno hit just right on the target. Sleek and calm atmosphere with a touch of Asian aura, soft natural tones to balance the energy of the place and the big trees all around that create the desired privacy. Brilliant.
What do you think of these two country style entrances? I love how serene they look and the feeling that they have been there for ever, just waiting for the visitor to arrive and welcome him in an effortless way.
Good morning! New week is on.. I keep having this tendency of browsing through my bedrooms inspiration folder every Monday. It might be my deepest desire of finding a way to somehow prolong the weekend or, as I recently realized, waking up in beautiful surroundings (or daydream that you have) can be the best way to start a new day or, even better, a new week. So happy new week my friends!
Just so in love with the mediterranean architecture, the sun-protected indoors, the rough surfaces holding only the bare essentials, the levels and the organic, functional forms of the exteriors and the breathtaking smell of rosemary and thyme. This feels exactly like home.
I have a confession to make; now that the summer has unofficially started here in Crete (I actually managed to go swimming into the still cold aegean waters yesterday) I find it terribly difficult to gather up my mind and concentrate on working. So many temptations everywhere.. *sigh* Well, now, I promised myself to stay in office this Sunday and catch up with all the things I've left behind (yeap, the sun is still soo bright outside..). Hopefully, I'll get things going and have some time free now and then during the weekdays. I leave you for now with this wonderful (and highly tempting) villa in Mykonos just to keep us dreaming. xoxo
Now that the days get bigger and the temperature is rising, the arrival of the nightfall, accompanied by pink and lilac shades on the sky, brings a rejuvenating cool breeze, perfect excuse to cuddle up your favorite, soft blanket and watch as the first bright stars appear on the sky.
I love these clean cut bathrooms where you can just hop under the shower to start off a vibrant day. All those sleek surfaces, the ample, uncluttered space and the dark wood deck under your feet create an industrial-inspired space that retains, whatsoever, a cozy and effortless atmosphere.
I wouldn't mind taking a few days off the troubles of the everyday life and visit this renovated 19th century neoclassical mansion in Ermoupolis, Syros. Just relaxing in this bright blue living room in utter silence or drinking my afternoon iced tea outside, on the roof-top terrace breathing the fresh Aegean breeze.
