I've always believed that by placing the right dining table in the right position inside the house, you can easily create a living magnet to the members of a family. Dining tables have the appropriate size for a number of family activities, apart from eating that is, like doing homework, playing games, reading and studying or, simply, gathering around for a chat. At least, that's how I remember it, way back my childhood, every night, all the family sitting around the big table in the kitchen, catching up with the day's news after dinner, talking loud (Cretan temperament, you see..) and laughing. Oh, divine dining table..

I'm with you on that. I love big dining tables, and they truly feel like the center of the home.
My hubby is Mexican and they are all loud too :p So even around a small table everyone shouts hahah. Love it though :) Very charming.

I agree with you - they are the heart and soul of a home and become the absolute centre for both the occupants and visitors - so it is important to get the location and ambience right. I love your examples - all 3 are very welcoming.
